With sequential translating, the speaker pauses to give the translator the chance to translate the passage or proposal into the foreign language.

Sequential translation is preferred at the following events:

The use of specialized equipment is a feature of simultaneous translation: the translator sits in an isolated booth and uses a head-set with a microphone, and either sees the speaker directly or their image on a monitor. The translation will is then available to listeners through their head sets. With simultaneous translation, two translators work in each booth, switching with one another through the specific time intervals.

Simultaneous translation is preferred at events such as:

• intergovernmental forums;
• international conferences;
• business meetings with participants from different countries;
• seminars, presentations.

Advantages of simultaneous translation:

• possibility of translation into several foreign languages;
